Adam McGovern: (ACM Homes, LLC)
A new generation of innovation and efficiency
Sometimes it takes a fresh perspective to be able to think outside the box. Adam McGovern, a third-generation builder, grew up in the construction industry in Lee’s Summit before stepping away to earn a degree at Emporia State University and spending a year working for another company. He founded ACM Homes four years ago with creative ideas to meet the fast-changing needs of homeowners.
“I got back into the building business because my brother and I weren’t seeing any progress in the marketplace,” he said. “Every other industry seemed to become more advanced, but we were still building houses the same way we did 20 years ago. We believe it’s time to start expecting more — more standard insulation, more efficient heating and cooling, more efficient windows, more quality finishes, more innovation and more transparency.”
Each ACM Home is built from the ground up with energy efficiency in mind. For example, a reverse story-and-a-half with a finished walkout basement using 2-by-6 walls with R-23 insulation will save the owner $6,300 over the first decade of ownership – at a price that is competitive with traditional construction.
McGovern has built in some of the hottest subdivisions in the area, including Creekmoor in Raymore and Presidential Park in North Kansas City. He is excited to begin work in Summit View Farms. “With the location and all of the extras that are being included, it soon will be the leading neighborhood in Lee’s Summit,” he said.
Away from the job, McGovern enjoys outdoor activities and spending time with his wife, Katie, and baby, Amoriah.
